There are several common methods of anchoring ships
What is anchoring? Anchoring is also called anchoring. Mainly refers to the use of anchor and anchor chain of the mooring force, so that the ship safe docking behavior. Ships must often anchor in order to load and unload goods, take shelter from the wind, wait for berths, wait for pilots, quarantine and await the tide. Throw single anchor and throw double anchor two kinds. An outstanding anchorage position and thorough preparation should be selected before anchoring to ensure smooth progress and safety in the process of anchoring. Guangdong ship maintenance said mooring methods with different waters, meteorological conditions and ship anchor equipment placement conditions vary, usually there are the following several.
1. Anchor the bow
Bow anchoring can be divided into two types: single anchor and double anchor.
Bow single anchor, suitable for better weather conditions, docking time is not long. When throwing a single anchor, the ship has a wide range of motion on the water surface. Double anchors at the bow are suitable for situations where activities are restricted or the waters are affected by large waves and rapids. Because the wind force and flow force suffered by the ship are the least when the bow anchor is anchored, the bow anchor is the main way for the ship to anchor, and also the reason why the ship's main anchor is placed in the bow.
2. Side anchor
Side anchoring, in order to make the current or wind direction and the midship line into a straight state or a certain Angle, so as to ventilation and disinfection or enable the ship at a disadvantage side loading and unloading goods or other work.
Anchor aft
Anchoring at the stern is mostly used for inland river ships. When ships are sailing in the water, they can avoid turning around due to anchoring. For ships which often need to throw the stern anchor, they should have more perfect equipment.
The ship anchored head and stern
The ship anchors head and tail, the ship is full of the effect of rise and fall cycle and the active water area is restricted and some special situations are used.
5. Multiple anchors
Some floating structures in the ocean, such as drilling ships, drilling channels, oil production channels, navigation ships, salvage and rescue ships, etc., have certain constraints on displacement according to the work requirements. Usually three anchors are used for positioning. For drilling ships and semi-submersible channels with high positioning requirements, 6~10 anchors are used. Depending on the depth of the working area and storm resistance requirements, some anchors are as high as 12 anchors.
Precautions for anchoring
Pay attention to:
(1) generally, the roof flow is the criterion when anchoring. When the ship is approaching the anchor position at a slow speed in the wind or against the headstream, it should stop and reverse when appropriate, anchor in a slightly retreating or advancing inertia, loose the anchor chain, and make the anchor catch the seabed. In this process, the rudder and anchor chain should be used to adjust the inertia and stress of the ship until the ship enters the anchorage state.
(2) use the anchor in turn to extend its service life.
(3) when anchoring in strong wind, the depth under the ship should be satisfied. Can throw double anchor anchor, such as throwing "eight word anchor", "a little anchor" and so on.
(4) if the water depth exceeds 25m, it can be used for anchoring in deep water. Release some of the anchor chains and brake the chain to drop the anchor. If the water depth exceeds 50m, the anchor chain shall be released by the windlass until the anchor touches the seabed, and then the ship will retreat very slowly to force the anchor claws, and then slowly loosen the chain to the desired length. Anchoring in the deep should generally be avoided.
